Julie Bondy started teaching aerobics in 1989. Enrolled in the Math Co-op program at the University of Waterloo, she was placed at Xerox in North York for her first work term. At Xerox, the co-ordinator of the fitness facility asked Julie if she would consider teaching aerobics if they provided the training. Julie agreed and was sent to the Fitness Ontario Leadership Program. She then went on to get certified by the Ontario Fitness Council.
Back at the University of Waterloo campus, Julie began to teach aerobics in the aerobics studios on campus. For two terms at the University of Waterloo, Julie also held the position of student fitness coordinator. She has also taught at the Ingersoll Recreation Centre, Glendale High School, and two fitness clubs in Kitchener.
In 1992, Julie was diagnosed with thryoid cancer and she had surgery and radiation. Because of this Julie stopped teaching aerobics for awhile. Julie, being a Christian, found her strength in God. He gave her peace and helped her each step of the way. Even the doctors commented on how much peace Julie had. Julie has many favourite scriptures from the Bible that encouraged her along the journey to restored health. Julie has been cancer free since 1992 and she gives all the glory to God!

In 1999, during praise and worship on a Sunday morning, God gave Julie the name Fit for Christ and then the scripture 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
In January of 2002, Julie started to lead the Fit for Christ aerobics group in Bloomingdale, Ontario. In January of 2003, Julie started to use a sound system and wireless headset microphone. She has lots of fun while she helps the ladies become more fit!
During the time that Julie was not leading aerobics, her weight crept up to 189 pounds. By choosing a more healthy lifestyle, that is, exercising regularly and eating more healthy foods, Julie has lost around 65 pounds! See a before and after picture.
Julie is a member of Can-Fit-Pro, which is the Canadian Association for Fitness Professionals. Julie likes to attend fitness conferences in Toronto to keep up on the latest in the fitness industry. She has been to the CAIN conference in 1991, the IDEA conference in 1993 and the Can-Fit-Pro Fitness & Club Business Conference in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Julie lives just outside of Bloomingdale and is married to a wonderful man, Matt. Together, they have four precious children: Tiffany, Ariel, Judah and Nathan.
